West Hempfield season came to an end with an 11-6 loss in the District 31
Semi-Finals to Greensburg. Zach Zimmerman was the starting pitcher
and took the loss. West Hempfield scored all 6 runs in the bottom of
the 3rd inning. After 1 out, Chuck Sever walked and scored on a
homerun by Tim Norris. Zimmerman followed with a single and scored
on Tyler Lilja's double to left field. Then with 2 outs, Anthony
Fanelli hit a homerun to center field that scored Lilja. Doug Ansick
followed with a solo homerun of his own. With the win, Greensburg
qualified for the Regional Tournament in Clearfield.

West Hempfield won the 1st playoff series over Latrobe 8-3 in 8 innings at
Legion Keener Park in Latrobe. Zach Zimmerman got the win in relief
of Brennan Rahl. Rahl pitched the 1st 5 innings surrendering only 3
runs, 1 of which was earned. Zimmerman came in relief and gave up
only 1 hit in 3 innings. West Hempfield opened the scoring when
Christian Hensler drove in Tim Norris & Zimmerman with 2 outs in the 1st
inning. Latrobe tied the score in the bottom of the 4th inning.
West Hempfield took the lead back in the 6th inning, Anthony Fanelli
singled to drive in Tyler Lilja. Latrobe responded with the tying
run the bottom of the 6th inning. West Hempfield won the game in the
top of the 8th inning. Christian Hensler singled to lead off the
inning. Braden Royer then pinch ran for Hensler. Fanelli then
advanced Royer to 2nd base with a sacrifice bunt. Doug Ansick
followed with a single to center field to score Royer. Rahl then got
hit by a pitch advancing Ansick to 2nd base. Jared Hensler then hit
a ground ball to the Latrobe shortstop forcing Rahl out at 2nd base and
Hensler reached 1st base on a fielders choice. Jared Hensler then
steals 2nd base and Matt Loucks walked to reload the bases. Ansick
scores on a wild pitch and and Hensler advances to 3rd base and Loucks to
2nd base. Tim Norris then tripled to right field to score both
Hensler & Loucks. Zimmerman followed that hit with a single of his
own to score Norris. With the victory, Latrobe was knocked out of
the playoffs and West Hempfield will play on Thursday July 8th when they
travel to Greensburg Salem High School to Play Greensburg, 5:30 pm first
pitch.

Lint Field. Christian Hensler was the starting pitcher and got
relief help from Tyler Lilja & Doug Ansick. West Hempfield still
qualifies for the playoffs with the loss. There will be a league
meeting on Thursday, July 1st at 9:00 pm to decide the playoff seedings.
The top 4 teams in the Northern Division and top 4 teams in the Southern
Division will qualify for the tournament. Playoffs will begin

innings of play when West Hempfield scored 3 runs in the top of the 5th
inning. After 2 outs, Tim Norris drove home Brennan Rahl and Zach
Zimmerman drove home Jared Hensler. West Hempfield scored their 3rd
run when Tyler Lilja singled to score Norris. Hempfield scored 2
runs back in the bottom of the inning making the score 7-3 in favor of
Hempfield East. West Hempfield scored 5 runs in the top of the 6th
inning to take the lead 8-7. With 2 outs, Jared Hensler, Norris, and

runs. Zach Zimmerman also doubled and tripled. Doug Ansick had

West Hempfield won their 3rd straight game with a 9-5 victory over
Greensburg at Greensburg Salem High School. Zach Zimmerman earned
his 3rd win of the season on the mound. West Hempfield had their
season high of 14 hits including 3 each by Tim Norris, Brennan Rahl, &
Zimmerman. Greensburg took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the 2nd
inning. West Hempfield responded with a run in the 3rd inning.
Jared Hensler walked and advanced to 3rd base on a single by Norris.
Norris was eventually thrown out trying to steal 2nd base. Tyler
Lilja then singled to scored Hensler. Greensburg got another run in
the bottom of the 3rd inning to make the score 2-1. Then in the top
of the 4th inning. J Hensler reached base after 2 outs on an error
by the Greensburg 2nd baseman. Norris then tripled to left center
field to score Hensler. Zimmerman followed with a single to score
Norris and Lilja walked to put runners on 1st and 2nd base. Alex
Haines then singled to plate Zimmerman to make the score 4-2 in favor of
West Hempfield. West Hempfield added 2 more runs in the 5th inning.
Anthony Fanelli led off the inning with a single and was sacriced to 2nd
base by Doug Ansick. Rahl then singled up the middle to score
Fanelli. J Hensler then singled to advance Rahl to 2nd base.
Tim Norris then walked to load the bases. Lilja then walked to force
in Rahl. Greensburg scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to
make the score 6-5, West Hempfield. West Hempfield added 3 insurance
runs in the 7th inning. Rahl singled and was sacrificed to 2nd base
by Adam Derco. With 2 outs, Zimmerman singled to drive in Rahl and
then stole 2nd base. Lilja walked for the 3rd time in the game to
put runners on 1st and 2nd base. Alex Haines followed with a double

West Hempfield answered with 3 runs in the bottom of the inning. Tim
Norris walked and stole 2nd base. Zach Zimmerman followed with an
infield single advancing Norris to 3rd base. Zimmerman then stole
2nd base and he and Norris scored on Tyler Lilja's single to left center
field. Lilja then stole 2nd base and scored on Christian Hensler's
single. West Hempfield added to more runs in the bottom of the 2nd
inning. Norris hit a solo homerun to center field to start the
inning. Zimmerman then singled and stole 2nd base. Lilja
singled again to score Zimmerman. Valley added 3 runs in the top of
the 3rd inning on a 3-run homerun to make the score 5-4 in favor of West
Hempfield. West Hempfield added an insurance run in the 4th inning.
After 2 outs, Alex Haines singled and scored on Christian Hensler's triple
to right field. West Hempfield plays Greensburg on Tuesday, June

After 1 out, Zimmerman walked and stole 2nd base. Alex Haines
singled with 2 outs to score Zimmerman. West Hempfield had a few
breaks go against them in the bottom of the 2nd inning when Murrysville
scored 4 runs on 4 hits. None of the hits left the infield.
West Hempfield made the game close in the top of the 6th inning. Tim

West Hempfield won their 5th game of the season with a 10-1 victory over
Derry at Derry Area High School. Brennan Rahl needed only 75 pitches
to pitch a complete game and win his 2nd game of the season. Rahl
surrendered no earned runs and scattered 5 hits. West Hempfield took
a 1-0 lead in the top of the 2nd inning when Christian Hensler led off the
inning with a single and advanced to 2nd base when Alex Haines got hit by
a pitch. Anthony Fanelli then tried to sacrifice bunt the runners to
2nd and 3rd, but when the throw got by the 1st basemen Hensler scored.
West Hempfield then scored 8 runs in the top of the 3rd inning, Rahl
led off with a walk and advanced to 2nd when Tim Norris singled.
Zach Zimmerman then advanced both Rahl and Norris with a sacrifice bunt.
Tyler Lilja then singled to score both runners. Hensler then walked
and Alex Haines walked to load the bases. Doug Ansick then doubled
to score both Lilja and Hensler. Braden Royer then singled to score
Ansick. Royer then stole 2nd base and scored on Rahl's double.
Norris drove in Rahl with a single to center field. Zimmerman then
reached safely on an infield single advancing Norris to 2nd base.
Lilja then singled to score Rahl. West Hempfield scored an

walk and stole 2nd base. Then with 1 out, Tim Norris hit a ground
ball to the Latrobe 1st baseman that was misplayed allowing Norris to
reach safely and Ansick advanced to 3rd base. Ansick eventually
scored on a wild pitch to tie the score. Latrobe scored 2 runs with

West Hempfield won their 4th game of the season and the 3rd time they won
in the bottom of the 7th inning. Zach Zimmerman got the win pitching
7 strong innings. Zimmerman threw 97 pitches with 65 of them being
strikes. Zimmerman gave up 3 earned runs, walked 2, and struck out 8
Unity batters. West Hempfield trailed the entire game 3-0 until the
bottom of the 7th inning. Brennan Rahl led off the inning with an 8
pitch walk, he was advanced to 2nd base when Tim Norris got hit by a pitch
on an 0-2 count. Both Rahl and Norris moved up on a wild pitch.
Zach Zimmerman then got hit by a pitch to load the bases. After 1
out, Unity decided to make a pitching change. On the 1st pitch
delivered by the new pitcher, Christian Hensler hit a grand slam homerun
to left field to win the game. West Hempfield is now 4-3 on the
season and resume play on Tuesday, June 15th when they travel to Latrobe,
6:00 pm first pitch.

came back to win the game 8-6. Brennan Rahl pitched 6 scoreless
innings in relief of Tyler Lilja. West Hempfield scored 4 runs in
the bottom of the 2nd inning. After 1 out, Christian Hensler singled
and advanced to 2nd base when the Bushy Run shortstop made an error on the
ball hit by Josh Wilson allowing Wilson to reach safely at 1st base.
Then with 2 outs, Jared Hensler walked to load the bases. Brennan
Rahl followed with his 1st legion homerun to deep left field scoring all 3
runners. West Hempfield added another run in the 3rd inning.
With 1 out, Tyler Lilja singled and advanced to 2nd base when Alex Haines
walked. With 2 outs, Wilson hit a base hit to center field scoring
Lilja. West Hempfield tied the game in the bottom of the 4th inning,
after 1 out, Jared Hensler smashed a homerun to deep center field.
Then West Hempfield took the lead for the 1st time in the game in the same
inning. Rahl singled to left field and advanced to 2nd base on a
base hit by Tim Norris. Rahl was caught trying to steal 3rd base and
on the play Norris stole 2nd base. Anthony Fanelli followed with a 2
out base hit to center field scoring Norris. West Hempfield added an
insurance run in the bottom of the 5th inning, Lilja singled to left field
on the 1st pitch of the inning and advanced to 3rd base when Haines
doubled to left center field. Christian Hensler then followed with a
ground ball to 3rd base and Lilja was out at home on the play.
Haines then advanced to 3rd base on a wild pitch and scored when the
catchers throw went into left field. With the victory West Hempfield
evened their record to 3-3 and resume play on Monday, June 14th when Unity
travels to Lint Field for a 6:00 pm contest.

Field in Freeport. Jared Hensler was the losing pitcher giving up 8
runs (7 earned). Tim Norris, Christian Hensler, & Tyler Lilja had 2
hits each to help the offense. After 2 outs in the 1st inning, Lilja
singled and eventually stole 2nd base. Alex Haines the hit an
infield single and Christian Hensler singled to drive home Lilja with 2
outs. Kiski scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning and 2 more
runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning to make the score 6-2. West
Hempfield answered with a solo run in the top of the 3rd inning.
Anthony Famelli singled up the middle to lead off the inning and advanced
to 2nd base on an error allowing Lilja to reach 1st base. Alex
Haines then singled to load the bases. Christian Hensler then
grounded into a double play allowing Fanelli to score. Kiski scored
another run in the 3rd inning to make the score 7-2 in favor of Kiski.
West Hempfiled scored their final run in the top of the 6th inning when
Christian Hensler singled to left field and advanced to 2nd base on Chuck
Sever's 1st career legion hIt advancing Hensler to 2nd base. After 2
outs, Matt Loucks walked to load the bases. After 2 outs, Norris
walked to force in Christian Hensler. Weather Permitting, West

Norris and Lilja. Derry scored a run in both the top of the 2nd
inning and 3rd innings to tie the score 2-2. West Hempfield scored 2
more runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning. Norris again led off with
a single and advanced to 2nd base on an error. Zimmerman again
grounded out advancing Norris to 3rd base. Lilja walked and stole
2nd base to put runners on 2nd and 3rd base. Haines followed with a
single scoring both Norris and Lilja. Derry tied the score again
with single runs in the 4th and 5th innings. West Hempfield took the
lead for good in the bottom of the 5th inning. After 1 out, Lilja
singled and was forced out at 2nd base on Haines ground ball to shortstop.
Haines then stole 2nd base and advanced to 3rd base on a wild pitch.
Christian Hensler then walked to put runners on 1st and 3rd base.
Hensler proceeded to steal 2nd base and Haines stole home when the
catchers throw went to 2nd base to try to get Hensler. The game was
ended when lightning was striking and the umpires called the game.
West Hempfield is now 2-1 on the season and resumes play on Thursday, June
3rd when the travel to Whitney to play Unity, 6:00 pm first pitch.

West Hempfield won their 1st game of the season with a walk off single to
left field by Alex Haines that scored Tim Norris. Zach Zimmerman
pitched a complete game, surrendering only 1 earned run and scattered 8
hits. West Hempfield trailed 1-0 after 1 1/2 innings of play until
Haines led off the bottom of the 2nd inning by getting hit in the foot
with a pitch and moved to 2nd base on a base hit by Christian Hensler.
Doug Ansick followed with an infield single to load the bases. Tyler
Lilja hit a deep drive to center field for a sacrifice fly that scored
Haines. West Hempfield took a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 4th
inning. Again, Haines led of the inning by getting hit in the foot
with a pitch and then stole 2nd base with 1 out. With 2 outs, Ansick
singled to score Haines. Hempfield East scored 2 runs in the top of
the 6th inning to take a 3-2 lead. Then in the bottom of the 7th
inning, Lilja led off the inning with a sharp single to center
field, (Braden Royer pinch ran for Lilja). Brennan Rahl then walked
and moving Royer to 2nd base. Hempfield East then picked off Royer
at 2nd base. Tim Norris followed with a book rule double to right
field advancing Rahl to 3rd Base. Zimmerman followed with an infield
single that scored Rahl. Cory Terek walked to load the bases setting
up Haines for the RBI single to left field to win the game scoring Norris.
West Hempfield is now 1-1 on the season and resumes play on Wednesday,
June 2nd when Derry travels to Lint Field, 6:00 pm first pitch.

West Hempfield led 2-0 until the top of the 7th inning when Irwin scored 4
runs. Zach Zimmerman pitched 6 1/3 surrendering only 1 earned run.
He forced Irwin to hit into 11 ground ball outs. West Hempfield
scored their 1st run in run in the bottom of the 1st inning. Tim
Norris led off with a walk and was forced out at 2nd base on Zimmerman's
ground ball. After 2 outs, Alex Haines doubled to left center field
to scored Zimmerman. In the bottom of the 3rd inning, Norris led off
with a double to short left field and advanced to 3rd base on a wild
pitch. With one out, Cory Terek drove home Norris with a sacrifice
fly to center field. Zimmerman had control of the game until the 7th
inning. After 1 out, Irwin hit a homerun and Zimmerman was relieved
on the mound by Jared Hensler. With 2 outs, Irwin reached base
on a walk, single, double, and another single to win the game 4-2.
West Hempfield is now 0-1 on the young season and resume play on Friday,
May 28th when they travel to Greensburg Salem High School to play
Greensburg, 6:00 pm first pitch.
